FAQ
Bridgehaven Senior Care Advisors — Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does Bridgehaven Senior Care Advisors do?
Bridgehaven helps seniors and their families navigate senior care and living options. We take time to understand your loved one’s care needs, preferences, location, budget and family circumstances, then help identify appropriate options and guide you through the decision-making process. Our goal is not simply to find an available community—it is to help your family find the right solution for your loved one. We don't stop there, we offer a full concierge service to help our families with resources to address ALL of their needs, whether it's moving any unwanted items, remodeling or cleaning the home, listing the home for sale, or meeting with an Elder Care attorney, our only goal is to provide solutions when and where they are needed.
2. How do I know if it’s time to consider assisted living?
There is rarely one single sign. Families may begin noticing frequent falls, medication mistakes, declining personal hygiene, difficulty preparing meals, isolation, memory changes, repeated hospitalizations or increasing caregiver exhaustion. We can help you evaluate what is happening and determine whether assisted living—or another type of support—may be appropriate.
3. Does Bridgehaven charge families for its placement services?
In most cases, there is no cost to the family for our senior living placement services when placement is made with a participating partner community. Bridgehaven may receive a referral fee from the community after a successful placement. We believe in being transparent about how our services are compensated and are happy to explain the process before you begin.
4. How do you determine which senior living communities may be right for my loved one?
Every senior and every family is different, so we begin by learning about your loved one as a whole person—not simply their care needs. We consider factors such as health and mobility, level of assistance needed, memory or cognitive concerns, preferred location, lifestyle, personality, budget, family priorities and what matters most to your loved one.
From there, Bridgehaven helps narrow the options and identify communities that may be a good fit. We can also help coordinate tours and prepare your family with important questions to ask so you can compare communities more confidently.
5. What types of senior care can you help us explore?
Depending on your loved one’s situation, we can help you understand and explore options such as independent living, assisted living, memory care, respite or short-term stays, skilled nursing and other senior-care resources. If remaining at home may be more appropriate, we can also help families understand resources they may want to explore before considering a move.
6. How does the Bridgehaven process work?
It begins with a conversation. We listen to what is happening and complete an assessment of your loved one’s needs, preferences, budget and priorities. From there, we research appropriate options, help families compare communities, coordinate tours when needed and provide guidance throughout the decision-making and transition process.
7. Can you help if my loved one has Alzheimer’s disease or dementia?
Yes. Memory loss can create additional safety, care and behavioral considerations when choosing a community. We help families identify memory-care options that may be appropriate for their loved one’s particular needs and encourage families to consider factors such as staffing, security, programming, care capabilities and the community’s approach to dementia care.
8. What if our family isn’t ready to make a move yet?
That’s completely okay. In fact, planning before a crisis is often one of the best things a family can do. You do not need to have made a decision before contacting Bridgehaven. We can help you understand the options now so that if circumstances change later, your family is better prepared.
9. Can Bridgehaven help us understand what we can afford?
Yes. Senior living costs vary considerably depending on the community, apartment, location and level of care required. We can help you compare anticipated costs and identify questions to ask about base rates, care charges and additional fees. We can also help identify resources you may want to investigate, such as long-term-care insurance, veterans benefits or Florida long-term-care programs when applicable. Bridgehaven does not provide financial, legal or benefits-eligibility advice, but we can help point families toward appropriate professional resources.
10. What makes Bridgehaven different from searching for senior living communities on my own?
An online search can give you a list of communities. Bridgehaven provides something different: a person who listens, asks questions and helps you make sense of the choices. We consider the senior behind the search—their care needs, personality, preferences, finances and family circumstances—and help you narrow the options so you can make a more informed and confident decision.
11. What if we choose a community and later realize it isn’t the right fit?
Choosing senior care can feel overwhelming because families naturally want to get the decision right. Bridgehaven helps families ask important questions before making a decision and consider not only what their loved one needs today, but what they may need in the future. And our relationship doesn’t have to end on move-in day. We want families to know they can reach back out if circumstances change or they need additional guidance.
